  • Rwandan coffee can be world class, fully washed and sun-dried.

It's a story of how a Hingakawa Women’s Coffee Cooperative united people 25 years after the genocide. The Hingakawa (“Let’s Grow Coffee”) Association is actually only one half of the Abakundakawa-Rushashi (“Those Who Love Coffee”) Cooperative which was formed in 2004, becoming the first Women’s Farmer Association of its kind in Rwanda.

Due to limitations of transportations and road conditions, most coffee after being harvested are brought to washing stations by foot or specially designed bicycles. Founded by a Tutsi lady and a Hutu lady, the two tribes at the center of such a heart wrenching historical conflict, the association engages in substantial farming, and together they produce a wine-like profile and complex acidity coffee that also finds its way forward. You will enjoy this spectacular light medium roast and its sweet notes of raisin, dried tropical fruit, or blend it with a decaf coffee to see how it stands out from the very first sip.
