  • Our newest creation, Highland Dance blend is a mix of high altitude coffee beans from different regions in the world.

To coffee lovers: have you ever wondered what elevation has to do with the cup of joe you’re drinking? If you’ve ever seen "4000 ft" or “5200 ft” when researching coffee, you're probably having some of the best beans. High altitude coffee is undoubtedly the kind you want to seek out, and elevation is one of the most important flavour factors. These beans have enjoyed cooler temperatures as they come from pieces of land at high altitudes, fitting them in the specialty coffee sphere.

High altitude coffee has been grown at a high elevation of 4000 - 5500 ft above sea level. Farm lands, such as those in like Ethiopia, Kenya, El Salvador and Colombia, are located close to the equator and will have higher optimal altitudes than those farther north or south of the equator. As arabica is a delicate plant, consistent temperature at about 20 degrees C with some shade is ideal. Not too hot, comfortably warm. Robusta, on the other hand, loves heat and sun and will thrive at a lower altitude of between 600 and 2500 ft above sea level. High altitude coffee is more difficult to cultivate, hence requires a lot more hard work and knowledge to produce.

Characteristics? These beans take their time to grow and mature, making them harder and denser with more sugar and acids accumulation, and are able to produce such complex flavours! The beans are so filling - you might taste a lot of things going on at once, like boldness, sweetness, spices, fruit, acidity, bitterness, and more. We do carry single origins such as Nicaraguan and Colombian if you're looking for something creamy with notes of florals, black tea and caramel. But Highland Dance will bring the best out of its beans, resulting in vibrant aromas and mixing between its brightness, intricate tropical fruits flavors, hints of citrus with a touch of honey. Sit down and enjoy a crisp and clean mouthfeel with richness!

Recommended for: brewed, French press and pour-over.
